Chantal Michel
And then by peculiar, ugly serendipity, you discover the illustration of your worst nightmare. Shame described in a way you have only before felt. Decay as invitation. That typewriter in the kitchen- like words matter more (because they do). Art you want to steal. Images you want to step inside. And still: always; hiding behind your damn hair.
See the entire series at Chantal Michel.

It's sort of funny and sort of creepy. And the worst of the creepiness is that I do kind of relate. How many times have I paniced because a friend is walking to the front door and the house is a horrid disaster?! LOL ~ Very fun post. Blessings... Polly
Fantastic art because it evokes an emotional response in me - I'm appalled! Her scenes remind me of that programme 'A Life of Grime'.
I'm by no means a clean freak, trust me, but these scenes are actually disturbing to me and when my house is at its worst, yes, I suppose in my head I do think it looks this bad although, in fact, it is nothing of the sort!
I loathe these pictures. They make me want to scratch, the same way the letters home from school about nit checks do. Having said that, the middle one with her perched on an urn reminds me of my beloved grandfather's junk room. You couldn't fully open the door to it eventually!
Oh. It's reminding me what my office will look like if I don't clean it up
Honestly, I find them oddly beautiful- the layered textures, the lovely things scattered amid the ruin and decay.
How did you find these pictures of my house?? Yes, that is me with the hair. Funny, I didn't see anyone taking any photographs.
APRIL FOOLS!
(yikes...those pics actually gave me some kind of visceral reaction -- part nausea, part panic. Stuff of nightmares indeed.)
Gosh I love your blog! As an English girl (who has also always hidden behind her hair, now living in Oz) - it's great to hear your kind of 'voice'. The kitchen picture really does my head in ..... freaky.
I'm going with creepy. Looks too much like dead bodies...
That's pretty disturbing and thought-provoking...
utter rubbish . . .
There is something about the girl that is just too much like a Japanese horror film - ringu or the grudge or something like that. Very disturbing.
Oh oh, please do read this: The Yellow Wallpaper. http://etext.virginia.edu/etcbin/toccer-new2?id=GilYell.sgm&images=images/modeng&data=/texts/english/modeng/parsed&tag=public&part=all
It reminds me so strongly of these pictures. Please let me know if you get a chance to read it and what you think of it.
