Slipper Genies

Remember this? Oh how we laughed. But now we must laugh on the other side of our faces because the darn things exist and across America women are raving about the wondeous floor cleaning properties of the Slipper Genie, apparently really rather fabulous for dealing with dog hair and the bestest invention ever for getting the kids to volunteer to help with the housework!

Bonkers. I mean what happened to good old fashioned graft?  Will Housemaids Knee go the same way as the Dodo? Will we all have to shimmy into skinnier jeans now as a result of  pretend ice-skating up and down the hallway when we could be watching Jerry Springer? And does all this harping mean I don't want a pair?

Don't be silly. Of course I do. They are all the rage apparently.

You've got to be kidding. Who in her right mind wants to trip round the house in dust cloths?

P.T. Barnum was right; there's a sucker born every minute. LOL!

I bought these the minute I saw them in the store, about a month ago. My 10 used to "skate" around the floors in her socks, and it would make me crazy. With these I don't mind. She gets to have fun, and I get a clean floor. Win, win!

When I was a little girl we lived, for a couple of years, on Guam. The women there had the most GORGEOUS hardwood floors that you have ever seen. Wanna know how they did it? They cut a coconut in half. The whole coconut, not just the round hard shell that you buy in the grocery store. The whole thing. Then they peel off the outer shell an inch and a half or two, and expose the "bristles" that we know from welcome mats. Next step is to add straps, slip their feet in and burnish their amazingly beautiful wood floor. Always wanted wood floors so I could do that. I think you have properly approximated the side effects. Where do I go? Gotta have 'em. I'm in need of thigh toning! And hip, and tummy, and arm and. . .

Ha! I just saw those, in *lime green*, and considered them for my boys to help me clean! :)

When my friends moved into their flat one brought us all our own pairs of these... not to clean with unfortunately just to have fun sliding on the hardwood floors!!!
